Broadband Cashback: Up to £171 for Switching — Every Route Compared (2026)

Broadband is the highest-paying switch in UK cashback that most people never claim: the two big cashback sites' comparison services currently pay up to £161–£171 for a new broadband contract, providers list flat bounties on top of their own deals, and comparison sites throw in reward cards. I haven't switched my own broadband through cashback yet — it's the next bill on my list, and this is the research I'll use when I do. Here's every route, what each pays, and the rules that decide whether the bounty lands.

The three routes to broadband cashback

1. Compare inside the cashback site

Same pattern as energy and insurance: run the comparison inside TopCashback or Quidco, choose the deal, sign up, and a flat bounty tracks — with the cashback site controlling the whole journey. Quidco's listing puts the headline at £171 and claims switching could save over 51% on a typical package; TopCashback's runs to £161. Bounties vary by provider and package (fibre speeds and TV bundles tend to pay the most).

2. Provider-direct bounties

TopCashback's broadband category lists providers individually. The one I can see with a firm number today is Three Home Broadband — up to £80 (4G/5G home broadband, no landline). The big fixed-line names — BT, Sky, Virgin Media, TalkTalk, Plusnet — rotate flat bounties monthly; MoneySuperMarket notes these household names are where cashback deals usually sit. Always compare the provider-direct bounty against the Compare bounty for the same package; they differ.

3. Reward cards and vouchers

Providers frequently offer a prepaid reward card or voucher (£50–£150) via comparison sites. Two rules: they're usually instead of cashback-site bounties, not in addition — read both sets of terms — and you typically have to claim the reward card within a window after installation or lose it.

When to switch (and how not to lose the bounty)

1. Contract end. Out-of-contract prices jump; Ofcom requires providers to send an end-of-contract notification — that's your trigger. Switching mid-contract means exit fees that eat any bounty.
2. New customer only. Bounties are for new accounts with that provider — moving BT → Sky qualifies; a re-contract with your existing provider doesn't.
3. Same session, cashback first. Start on the cashback site (or its Compare), complete the order there. Comparison-site "extra" pages can break tracking.
4. Stay connected. Broadband bounties confirm after installation and a qualifying period (often ~90 days). Cancelling in the cooling-off window voids it.
5. Keep the confirmation email. If nothing tracks within a week, claim with the order reference — process here.
6. Bundle maths. TV/phone bundles pay bigger bounties but cost more; the bounty is a one-off, the bill is monthly. Choose the package first, the bounty second.

What I'll do when my contract ends

Compare the Compare bounties (TopCashback vs Quidco), check the provider-direct listing for whichever deal wins, decide reward card or cashback (whichever is larger and simpler), sign up inside the cashback site, and screenshot everything. With a £161–£171 ceiling, this should be the biggest single bounty in my account after Three's £120 — and it'll get its own receipt on this page when it happens.

Questions to answer before you switch

• Is my current contract actually ended, or will exit fees apply?
• Is the Compare bounty or the provider-direct bounty higher for this package?
• Is a reward card on offer, and does it stack or replace cashback?
• What's the qualifying period before the bounty confirms?
• Does the new speed/price actually beat my renewal offer? (Call your current provider once you have a quote — they often match.)
