"Gift cards" on TopCashback confuses everyone, because it's actually two completely different tricks sharing one name — one for when you're spending, one for when you're withdrawing. I use both. Here's each with my receipts.
Disclosure: affiliate links fund the testing.
Trick 1 — TopGiftCards: buy your spending money at a discount
TopGiftCards is TopCashback's own gift-card shop: digital cards for everyday brands, each paying cashback on the card itself. Current standouts from my screenshots: Primark 6% (the only Primark discount in existence), Adidas 10.1%, Hotel Giftcard 12%, Naked Wines 11.5% — with supermarket-tier cards (Iceland, Tesco, Asda), Deliveroo, Starbucks, TK Maxx and IKEA on the everyday end.
The move: know you'll spend £100 at a brand → buy its card first → pocket the percentage → spend the card as normal. My account shows ~20 of these purchases, and two practical notes from that history:
- They track reliably — small percentages, but I've never had a gift-card purchase go missing, and TopCashback frequently drops a £2–£5 bonus row on top during promos (my history is full of them).
- Mind the expiry (typically 2–3 years, shown per card) and any in-store-only limits — buy what you'll genuinely spend.
One caveat the fine print carries: paying a retailer with a gift card can exclude that purchase from further cashback — so treat the card's percentage as the deal, not a stack starter.
Trick 2 — Reward Wallet: withdraw into gift cards for a bonus
When cashing out, choosing a gift card over a bank transfer adds a bonus — advertised as up to 5% (up to 30% on select brands). Here's what "up to" meant across my eight real redemptions:
| Payout | Became | Real bonus |
|---|---|---|
| £25.00 | Farmfoods £25.75 | +3% |
| £20.11 | Amazon £20.51 | +2% |
| £2.80 | Amazon £2.86 | +2.1% |
| five smaller | Amazon/Tesco | ~+2% each |
Real-world answer: 2–3%, brand-dependent. Free money for one different click at withdrawal — just not the headline number on the brands I chose.
The quiet superpower here: Amazon. No cashback site pays on Amazon UK purchases — but withdrawing your earnings as Amazon credit with a bonus is effectively the only Amazon discount going, and it's my default payout.
Which trick when?
- Planned spending at a specific brand → Trick 1, buy the card first
- Cashing out your balance → Trick 2, gift card if the bonus brand suits you, bank transfer if you want cash certainty
- Both, most months → me. The percentages are small; the habit compounds.
→ TopGiftCards lives here — and the payout bonus appears automatically as an option whenever your balance hits payable.
FAQ — real questions people ask Google
How do I receive my cashback? Once payable: bank transfer, PayPal — or gift cards, which add the bonus covered above. My ~20 withdrawals have used a mix; all arrived.
Does TopCashback charge a fee for gift cards? No — both tricks pay you: cashback for buying cards on TopGiftCards, a bonus for withdrawing into cards. The only platform fee anywhere is the optional £5/year Plus membership.
Do gift-card purchases earn full cashback at the retailer afterwards? Usually not — spending a gift card at a retailer commonly voids that purchase's cashback. Bank the card's own percentage and treat anything more as luck.
Which gift card bonus is biggest right now? It rotates. My screenshots this month: Hotel Giftcard 12%, Naked Wines 11.5%, Adidas 10.1% on the buying side. Bounty Watch tracks the current board.
All redemption figures from my own Reward Wallet history (screenshots shown); rates checked 7 Sep 2026 and rotate constantly.
