Privacy Policy
Last updated: 8 September 2026
The Cashback Chap ("we", "us") is an independent UK cashback guide published at thecashbackchap.co.uk. This policy explains, in plain English, what data the site does and doesn't handle. The short version: this is a static content site — we don't run ad trackers, we don't sell anything directly, and we collect as little as possible.
Who we are
The data controller for this site is the operator of The Cashback Chap. For any privacy question or request, contact hello@thecashbackchap.co.uk.
What we collect
- Server logs. Our host (Vercel) automatically records standard technical data — IP address, browser type, pages requested, timestamps — to serve the site securely and diagnose faults. This is ordinary web-server logging, not marketing tracking.
- Emails you send us. If you email us (e.g. a rate correction or question), we keep that message and your address only to reply and to keep a record of the correspondence.
- Nothing else by us. There are no sign-up forms, no accounts, and no newsletter on this site at present. We do not ask for or store names, addresses, or payment details — ever.
Cookies
This site sets no first-party tracking or advertising cookies. We don't run Google Analytics or ad networks. If we add privacy-friendly, aggregate analytics in future, we'll update this policy and, where required, ask for your consent first.
Note that when you click an outbound link to a cashback provider, their site will set its own cookies — see "Affiliate and referral links" below.
Affiliate and referral links
Some links on this site (typically our "join", "start earning" or /go/ links) are affiliate or referral links to TopCashback and other cashback providers. When you click one, you leave our site and are handed to that provider, who may record that the referral came from us and set their own cookies under their own privacy policy. We may earn a referral bonus if you sign up — at no cost to you. We never see your account or purchase details on those providers. Read more on our disclosure page.
Third parties who process data for us
- Vercel — hosting and content delivery (processes server-log data as above).
- Email provider — delivers and stores email you send to our contact address.
We do not sell, rent or share your personal data with anyone for marketing.
Your rights (UK GDPR)
You have the right to access, correct, or request deletion of any personal data we hold about you (in practice, that's usually just an email you sent us), to object to or restrict its processing, and to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO). To exercise any of these, email hello@thecashbackchap.co.uk and we'll respond within one month.
Data retention
Server logs are retained only as long as our host keeps them for operational and security purposes. Emails are kept as long as needed to handle your enquiry and a reasonable period afterwards.
Children
This site is intended for adults (18+), in line with cashback providers' own terms. We do not knowingly collect data from children.
Changes to this policy
We'll update this page if our practices change — for example, if we add analytics or a newsletter — and revise the "last updated" date above.
This policy describes the site's current, deliberately minimal data practices and is provided in good faith; it isn't legal advice.
