Most TopCashback Plus reviews are written by people who've never paid for it. Here's the difference on this page: my payout history literally contains the line "Annual £5.00 Membership deduction paid" — twice, once a year, exactly as promised. I've run Plus since early in my membership, so this is the £5 question answered with my own numbers.

What Plus actually is
TopCashback's optional upgrade tier: £5 a year, quietly deducted from your cashback earnings (you never hand over card details for it). In exchange, the official Plus-vs-Classic page promises:
- Higher cashback rates — TopCashback says Plus members average 16% more cashback than Classic members
- Up to 25% bonus on payouts (bigger gift-card boosts than Classic's)
- A higher referral tier — currently £25 per referral vs Classic's £20
- Priority support and assorted perks
Classic remains free forever, and everything on this site works on Classic — Plus is an accelerator, not a requirement.
My maths: did £5 pay for itself?
Three ways Plus earned its fee back in my account, conservatively:
- Referrals alone settle it. At £25 vs £20 per completed referral, the £5 fee is repaid by one single referral each year. I've completed 33 referrals — on referral maths alone, Plus has out-earned its fee many times over.
- The 16% average uplift applied to ordinary earning: even at a modest £150/year of shopping cashback, that's ~£24 extra — nearly 5× the fee.
- Payout bonuses — my gift-card redemptions ran at 2–3% real; Plus's richer payout bonus tiers contributed to those rates.
My verdict from the receipts: for anyone earning more than ~£50 a year, Plus is close to free money; for a heavy user or referrer, it's a no-brainer.
Who should stay on Classic
Honesty corner — Plus is wrong for you if:
- You're brand new and don't yet know your usage: start Classic, upgrade once your first bounties land (upgrading later loses you nothing)
- You earn under ~£30/year on the platform — the fee stops being trivial against tiny earnings
- You dislike any auto-renewing paid tier on principle — the £5 deducts annually until you cancel, and forgetting it exists is the only way to lose
FAQ — real questions people ask Google
Is it worth being a Plus member on TopCashback? If you refer even one person a year or earn £50+, yes — the £25-vs-£20 referral tier alone repays the fee, before the advertised 16% average rate uplift does anything. Below that usage, stay Classic.
What is TopCashback Plus? The £5/year optional tier: higher cashback rates, bigger payout bonuses, better referral bonuses, priority support. The fee is deducted from your earnings — you'll see it as a line in your payout history, exactly like mine above.
How can I cancel my TopCashback Plus membership? From your account's membership settings — downgrade to Classic and the next annual £5 simply never gets deducted. No phone calls, no retention gauntlet; your earnings and history remain untouched.
Is there anything better than TopCashback Plus? Quidco runs a comparable premium tier, and the honest answer mirrors the platform question generally: the best setup is free tiers everywhere, paid tier only where you earn most — for me, that's here.
