Every "Quidco vs TopCashback" article I've read was written by someone comparing two homepages. This one's written from inside a TopCashback account with 123 purchases, £1,636.17 earned and £1,547.12 actually withdrawn — and a Quidco account I keep open specifically to catch the deals TopCashback drops. So this is less "which is better" and more "how I use both, and why one is primary".

Rates: it's a coin-flip per retailer, not per site

Neither site "pays more" in general. Rates are set per retailer and flip constantly — the same shop can be 5% on one and 8% on the other this week, then swap. Three real examples from my own shopping:

  • WorldRemit: TopCashback dropped it; Quidco still lists it. That's the kind of gap I keep Quidco for.
  • Temu: neither was the best — Rakuten paid more that week. The lesson isn't "Quidco or TopCashback", it's check before every big purchase.
  • Asda Groceries: Quidco shows 2.25% plus a new-customer bonus up to £10; my TopCashback first order paid £9.43 on £42.07. Near identical.

For anything over ~£100, thirty seconds checking both sites is the highest hourly rate in money-saving.

Premium vs Plus: the maths

  • TopCashback Plus costs £5 a year, taken from your cashback, and unlocks higher rates on many retailers. It pays for itself once you've earned roughly £50–100 in a year — I've been Plus for years and covered it many times over (full breakdown in my Plus review).
  • Quidco Premium costs £1 a month, only in months you earn, and adds a 10% top-up to your cashback. Earn £10 in a month → £1 fee → net £0; earn £50 → £5 bonus → net +£4. It's better than Plus for high monthly earners, worse for occasional shoppers who'd pay fees for tiny top-ups.

Trust and payouts — my actual experience

On TopCashback I've received roughly 20 payouts to my bank, the biggest £216.20, with tracking that never missed a genuine purchase across 123 transactions. The honest downsides — slow confirmation (4 days to 26 weeks) and ~£98 of real declines — are documented in my full review and legit check. Quidco's payout mechanics are equivalent and it sits inside an FCA-regulated group, which some people find reassuring. I've no reason to doubt either.

My verdict: primary + backup

Pick one as your primary (so bonuses, tiers and referral perks compound), and keep the other open as a rate-check. Mine is TopCashback for coverage and a three-year payout record; Quidco is my safety net for dropped merchants. If you're a heavy monthly spender, Quidco Premium's 10% top-up may swing it the other way. Either way — never buy anything big without checking both.

FAQ — real questions people ask Google

Are Quidco and TopCashback the same company? No. TopCashback is run by TopCashback Group Ltd, an independent UK company founded in 2005. Quidco is owned by MONY Group — the Moneysupermarket group — and operates as an FCA appointed representative within it.

Is there anything better than TopCashback? For total coverage, no single site clearly beats it, but individual retailers often pay more elsewhere (Quidco, Rakuten, or a retailer's own scheme) in a given week. The winning setup is a primary site plus a quick check of the others before big purchases.

What are Martin Lewis' best cashback sites? MoneySavingExpert consistently names TopCashback and Quidco as the two main UK cashback sites, describing them as each other's main rival — and recommends comparing rates between them per purchase rather than committing to one.

Can TopCashback be trusted? In my experience, yes: £1,547.12 withdrawn to my bank, ~20 payouts, no genuine purchase ever missed in 123. The realistic risks are slow confirmations and occasional merchant declines, not lost money — the receipts are in my legit review.
