How to Save an Extra 10%+ on Hotels.com and Expedia With Cashback (12% Live Right Now)

Everyone books hotels the same way: compare prices, maybe hunt a "Hotels.com discount code", pay. Almost nobody adds the step that actually pays: click through a cashback site first. Right now, in my TopCashback account, that step is worth 12% on Hotels.com, 8–10% on Expedia hotels, 12% at Radisson and 7% on Agoda — on top of the booking site's own member discount, and on top of its loyalty rewards. My last Expedia hotel paid 11%: £27.19 back on a £247.21 stay. Here's the exact stack that turns "a bit off" into an extra 10%-plus on every hotel.

Two things to notice. First, the spread: the same hotel can appear on Hotels.com, Expedia and Agoda at near-identical prices, and the cashback difference between 7% and 12% on a £500 stay is £25. Second, the word Exclusive and the countdown ("ends in 11 h") — these top rates are windows, which is why I track them on Bounty Watch.

The three-layer stack: how the "extra 10%" happens

Booking sites give you discounts in layers that don't cancel each other. Use all three.

Layer 1 — Member Prices (log in). Expedia and Hotels.com show lower "Member Price" rates on many properties once you're signed in — typically 10% or more off selected hotels. This is the discount the coupon sites repackage as "codes"; it's free and it stacks.

Layer 2 — Cashback (click through first). 8–12% of the booking value comes back to you weeks after your stay, paid from the site's marketing commission. Prices are identical whether you click through or not.

Layer 3 — One Key / Hotels.com Rewards (loyalty). Expedia Group's One Key programme pays 2% back in OneKeyCash per £1 spent (excluding taxes and fees) on eligible Expedia and Hotels.com bookings, redeemable against future bookings. Hotels.com additionally runs "stay 10 eligible nights, get £100 in Hotels.comCash" for regulars.

Worked example — a £500 hotel on Hotels.com today:

Even with no Member Price available, 12% + 2% on £500 is £70. That's the extra 10%+ the title promises, from two clicks and a login.

The booking order that keeps it all tracking

1. Pick the hotel first (any site, incognito if you like), then decide which site to book on by checking the live cashback rate for each on TopCashback — Hotels.com, Expedia, Agoda, Radisson, Booking.com. Highest rate wins, unless a Member Price on another site is larger.
2. Click through from the cashback site, log in to the booking site for Member Prices, and complete the booking in that session — no wandering off to compare in another tab.
3. Book the hotel on its own. Packages and flights pay 1–3.5% (and packages are excluded from Hotels.com cashback entirely). Book flights direct with the airline through cashback — I've had 5% on Qatar Airways that way.
4. Prefer pay-now over pay-at-property where the price is the same. Cashback is calculated on the amount you actually pay through the site; pay-at-hotel bookings can track late or fall outside the listing's terms — check the exclusions on the day.
5. Use only the site's own Member Price or a code shown on the cashback page. Unlisted voucher codes are the classic cashback-voider.
6. Expect to be paid after you travel. Hotel cashback confirms once the stay completes and the site's cancellation window closes — my Expedia booking sat pending for a while before confirming. Payout-times guide.

Which site should you book on?

• Same hotel on several sites: book where cashback is highest that day — today that's Hotels.com (12%) over Expedia (8%) over Agoda (7%).
• Chain hotel (Radisson, and check others): the chain's own site may pay as much as the aggregators — 12% at Radisson today — with the chain's loyalty points on top.
• Asia-heavy trip: Agoda's 7% often comes with the widest inventory there.
• Booking.com: its rate and exclusions move around; check the live listing before assuming it beats the others.
• Never: book a flight-plus-hotel package for the convenience — you'll swap 8–12% for 3.5%.

A word on "Hotels.com discount codes"

Genuine, general Hotels.com codes are rare; what coupon sites list is mostly Member Prices, app-only deals or expired promotions. The reliable, repeatable saving is Member Price + cashback + One Key. If a real code appears on the cashback listing itself, use it — it's been checked not to break tracking.

Is it cheaper to book a hotel directly or online? Often the price is the same, so the deciding factor is what pays you back. Chains like Radisson pay 12% cashback direct today; aggregators pay 7–12%. Book wherever the cashback plus member/loyalty discount is largest — and check both.

How to get hotels cheaper in the UK? Log in for Member Prices, book through a cashback site (8–12% on the big booking sites right now), collect One Key or chain loyalty on top, and book hotel and flights separately so the hotel earns the high rate.

How does Hotels.com One Key Cash work? One Key is Expedia Group's loyalty scheme across Expedia, Hotels.com and Vrbo: you earn 2% of eligible spend (before taxes and fees) as OneKeyCash to use on future bookings. It stacks with cashback because it's paid by the booking site, not the cashback site.

Is OneKeyCash worth it? As a bonus layer, yes — 2% back for free. It isn't worth choosing a pricier site for; treat it as the third layer after Member Prices and cashback.
